Large Fan Units Imbalance Case Study

Two large fan units with elevated velocity levels and signs of imbalance were identified during a client sweep. JPS Reliability's client was advised to inspect the impellers and ensure all fixings and structures are secure.

So a few weeks back whilst attending a new client for a first time sweep🧹🧹 I happened to pick up immediately picked but two large fan units🪭🪭 that were both showing elevated Velocity levels📈📈 both which were one directional with signs of Imbalance⚖️⚖️

The second image✌🏻🖼 shows both units fan shaft bearing Velocity Spectra⚙️📊 showing one directional imbalance in 'Unit A's Horizontal Axis↔️ whilst 'Unit B' is unbalanced in the Vertical Axis↕️

This was highlighted to management🚨🗣 at the end of the survey and it was advised to inspect🔎 the impellers for any wear n' deterioration and/or debris/material build-up along with ensure that any holding down fixings, bolts and structure where tight and secure🔧🔩

Note: These units run 24/7 with little-to-no downtime🕦🗓 so catching issues and implementing ammendments like this are crucial for maintenance may never get anytime to carry out any routine checks.
