With good training, experience, the correct equipment and the right information, a vibration analyst is often able to detect bearing faults months in advance. Once the bearing fault has been diagnosed, a decision must be made on when to stop the machine and carry out the corrective maintenance. The question is, how do we figure out the severity of the fault and when the bearing is ready to be changed? Take a look at the attached spectrums and waveforms and tell me what you think. Does this bearing need replacing immediately, can it run for a little longer or do we need to have more information?
