Centrifugal Pump Severe Misalignment

Severe misalignment in a centrifugal pump was diagnosed through velocity spectrum analysis and time waveform measurements, revealing a significant G value difference. The coupling failure was identified as the cause, necessitating maintenance and shaft alignment checks.

Equipment name: Centrifugal pump
Driver power: 11kW-3000 rpm
Driven by: Coupling
Detected failure: Severe misalignment

How to diagnose?
-Velocity spectrum- Multiple peak values at 1X order and up to 8X(or higher) orders

With time waveform, we control the G values. When the values increases, we should make a maintenance program.

In this case, failure was absolute, but degree of failure was not. That's why we control the equipment in order.

When we look at the time waveform, we can say that there is more than 10G difference between first and second measurement. The difference is enormous. It should be a physical failure.

We detected the coupling failure, cause of severe misalignment.

After the maintenance, we must control the shaft alignment for the sustainibility.
