Significant increase in stresswave levels and high-frequency activity from a liquid ring pump bearing indicated a looseness issue. Inspection revealed wear on both the inner and outer races, prompting further investigation into potential contributing factors.
Sharing some findings from May 21; we noticed a significant increase in #Stresswave level from a DE #bearing of a liquid ring pump, with harmonics of running speed evident in the spectrum. Standard #vibration data also showed an increase in high frequency activity with sidebands of running speed. This pointed towards possible looseness issue.
The site team subsequently carried out an inspection during the following July 21 shutdown with the following findings. Indication of wear can be seen on the inner race (note the different appearance between the two halves), as well as on the outer race.
Apart from #lubrication as well as the question mark on the #greasing channel (from the side) which may explain the two different halves of the bearing races, from your experience & knowledge, what else could be contributing to this condition?
