Bearing damage caused by fluting in a metal bearing motor and the gearbox system it drives has been seen in the gearbox input stage bearings. Liquid lubrication acted as an insulator in the motor bearings, and the shaft current traveled over the coupling and damaged the reducer bearing. In order to prevent this situation, a grounding is required over the motor shaft.
