Press Roll Bottom Damage Case Study

Defects were found on the press roll bottom, including BPFI and BPFO on the front of the roll. The bearing and roller were severely damaged, leading to a recommendation for a roll replacement.

Operating Speed: 75 - 130 RPM

Me and Mr. Muhammad Trendo found a problem with the press roll bottom.
After took the data, we found defects in the form of BPFI and BPFO on the front of the roll. After intense monitoring, the longer the vibration and the upward trend (this spectrum are the highest).

We can see from Overall, Peak to Peak, and TWF have been very severe so we recommended to change the roll and with serious criteria.

After disassembling the roll, it can be see in the photo that the bearing is terribly damaged. The Inner and outer are cracked, and even the roller is cracked too.

From these findings, we still analyze this problem.
