Live action - Oil Whip

Usually I read about oil whip in internal guidelines, online publication, and of course, Fundamentals of Rotating Machinery Diagnostics. However, I never got the chance to see it happens. Today, I have the opportunity of “purposely” causing the oil whirl and whip. I also have the opportunity of introducing some corrective actions to fix them.

The actions do not involve changing the bearings to tilt-pad type or changing the geometry of the bearings. BN can explain more.

Theoretical learning followed with practical experience is a golden opportunity when it comes to learning about machinery diagnostics.
