Lubrication Deficiency Related Bearing Inner Race Fault

Vibration analysis on motor and water pump BA_1851CC_03 revealed a defect on the inner race of bearing 6309 C3, indicating a lubrication deficiency. The equipment is in operational status A2 – Danger, and it is recommended to replace the bearing or the entire pump during the next scheduled maintenance.

1.1 A vibration analysis was carried out on the motor and water pump BA_1851CC_03 after the bearings were replaced as part of preventive maintenance on the asset dated August 29, 2025, through Predictive Maintenance Work Order 202501103464 / OM 202503360565, to validate the actual condition of the equipment.

Pump: Bearing in the bearing housing on the non-drive end (NDE):
The acceleration envelope analysis (Ge) revealed the presence of the 142.8 Hz frequency and its harmonics, indicating a defect on the inner race (BPFI) of bearing 6309 C3.
Additionally, signs of lubrication deficiency were observed, associated with an elevated noise floor (carpet), resulting from wear of the inner races and rotor displacement in the pump.
The equipment is currently in operational status A2 – Danger.

Note: The bearing located in the non-drive end bearing housing of the pump has shown recurring failures due to premature wear.

September 11, 2025 – Acceleration spectral map comparison with previous measurements shows high vibration levels in the high-speed range, along with an elevated noise floor, characterizing lubrication deficiency in bearing 6309 C3.

2.2 – Pump: Non-drive end bearing housing (NDE):

September 11, 2025 – Acceleration spectral trend (g) showing a global value of 15.9 g, indicating exponential evolution of a functional failure, with the equipment in status A2 – Danger.

2.3 – Pump: Non-drive end bearing housing (NDE):

September 11, 2025 – Acceleration envelope spectral trend (gE RMS / noise floor) in exponential evolution, with the equipment in status A2 – Danger.

2.4 – Pump: Non-drive end bearing housing (NDE):

September 11, 2025 – Acceleration envelope spectrum analysis (Ge) showed the presence of the 142.8 Hz frequency and its harmonics, indicating a defect on the inner race (BPFI) of bearing 6309 C3, in a replacement phase.

2.5 – Pump: Non-drive end bearing housing (NDE):

Temperature via Dynamox Remote Monitoring System – On September 11, 2025, at 21:15, recorded temperature was 33.8°C – considered normal temperature.

3.1 – Lubricate the bearings on the drive and non-drive ends of the pump – Request sent as a priority to area technician Jackson Santos on September 12, 2025, at 10:32.

3.2 – As a palliative measure within a predictive maintenance approach, it is recommended to replace the bearing located on the non-drive end of the pump during a planned opportunity window or preferably during the next scheduled preventive maintenance, set for September 30, 2025.

3.3 – Replace the entire pump due to the bearing defect on the non-drive end and worn rotor rings reaching the end of service life.
