If the outer race frequency is close to 2x electrical line frequency, set the instrument to take a long waveform and kill the motor power. If the energy disappears, the problem is electrical.
What do you do when the outer race frequency is almost identical to 2x electrical line frequency?
set your instrument to take a long wave form and kill the power to the motor (if the site are happy for this to happen). If the energy in the wave form suddenly disappears then you know that the source of the problem is electrical, a mechanical fault would continue to create sufficient levels of vibration while the asset slows down.
in this case we can clearly see that the engery completely dissipates when the power was switched off.
