A recent case at a major Gulf Coast facility showed how fast conditions can deteriorate - and how fast you need to move to avoid unplanned downtime. Acceleration and vibration spiked drastically in less than a week - going from 1.5 G's to above 15 G's (a 10x increase) - indicating a high likelihood of bearing failure. In addition, all base bolts and motor and fan mounting bolts were checked for looseness.

After addressing the issues, the asset went back into service with stable acceleration values at amplitudes less than 1.5 G's.

With real-time insights from Centaur, we were able to flag the issue, advise a planned shutdown of the asset, and help the plant get back to normal - before it turned into something worse.
