Severely Damaged Coupling Case with Airborne Ultrasound
Airborne ultrasound recordings show a severely damaged coupling with noticeable impacting in the time waveform and repeated impacting at run speed in the spectrum. Visual inspection and maintenance are recommended during the next planned shutdown.

In the following figures, we can observe a severely damaged coupling. These recordings were taken with airborne ultrasound.
In the ultrasound time wave form there is lots of noticeable impacting.
In the ultrasound spectrum, there is repeated impacting at run speed, crystal clear.
The only recommendation for a coupling that appears to be in this bad of shape would be to visually inspect during the next planned shutdown, and most likely perform the necessary maintenance.
