An outer race bearing defect in a Pulp & Paper Plant’s Dryer Section was analyzed using SDT’s UAS3 Software. The defect was found to be an inner race defect in an SKF-6312E bearing.
This outer race bearing defect was found in the Dryer Section of a Pulp & Paper Plant. It was pulled off the main motor which is connected to a gearbox. It controls a section of the dryers.
When this machine is down, the facility can’t dry their paper, and the production process grinds to a halt, costing tens of thousands of dollars per hour.
This data was recorded using an SDT270, and analyzed using SDT’s UAS3 Software with the Bearing Toolbox.
The bearing was an SKF – 6312E, after plugging the data, rotational speed, and bearing number into the Bearing Toolbox, our technicians were able to deduce that the bearing was suffering from an inner race defect.
